Track a Cell Phone Number

August 2nd, 2011 Posted in Science, Technology

Tracking a cell phone number is a lot harder than tracking a landline number. The reason for this is that those numbers are not listed in any telephone directories. Only the network companies have the complete information on their subscribers’ details. And do not even attempt to try to contact them as they will never divulge any information whatsoever.

There are many reasons why people are tracking down cellular; one of the most common is when they are receiving threats over their phones. This could really be alarming and anyone in their right mind would really want to know who that number belongs too or from it was registered.

Another reason for a cell phone number tracking is when you receive a call from someone but you were not able to answer the call. You will obviously want to know who the caller is. You can of course wait for another call. But if your gut feeling is telling you that it was a very important call, then do not hesitate to try tracking down the phone number.

Before, tracking a cell number was almost next to impossible unless you were working for the FBI. However it is now quite possible to trace a cell phone number for free.

1. Track a Number Through a Search Engine

You can try tracing a cell phone number by simply typing the number into your favorite search engine and see if it will work. This might just work, because the Internet is a big place with lots of social networking sites and the phone number you are looking could possibly be registered at one of those sites. You can type the whole phone number including the country code, that way it will be easier to track it down.

2. Track a Number Through an Online Cell Phone Directory

There are some free cell phone directories online, though information that can be gathered from those directories can be very limited. The most they can give you is the cell phone number’s network carrier and the city it was registered in or the city on the billing address, not the complete address itself.

3. Track a Number Through Reverse Lookup Sites

If you are resourceful enough you might find a cell lookup site that offers their service free of charge. But do not expect too much from them. If you want a good and reliable result, you might as well bite the bullet and pay the fee.

Search from a trusted reverse lookup site that will surely give you a detailed information you are looking for. Though you may have to pay a small price, at least your search will be fruitful enough. There are many reliable sites like the Intelius and the Reverse Phone Detective.

You can browse further and you might still find a site that will offer a one time free use just so they can prove that their system works. If you find one, grab the chance.
